Maintenance:
Chirping / Nuisance alarms – A “chirp” coming from your smoke detector approximately every 30-40 seconds most likely means you have a low battery. Replace the 9volt battery. When installing a new battery into the carrier, make sure polarity matches the marking printed on the battery carrier. Test the battery to make sure it works. If the smoke detector continues to chirp, contact the Boone Electric office in your area. TEST YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR WEEKLY AND CHANGE YOUR BATTERIES TWICE A YEAR.

Cleaning your alarm - To clean your alarm, remove it from the mounting bracket. You can clean the interior of you alarm (sensing chamber) by using compressed air or a vacuum cleaner hose and blowing or vacuuming through the openings around the perimeter of the alarm. The outside of the alarm can be wiped with a damp cloth. After cleaning, reinstall your alarm; verify the green LED is on and test you alarm by using the Test/Hush Button.
GFI /GFCI – Ground Fault Interrupter/ Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter:
Outlet not working: A GFI/GFCI receptacle is different from conventional receptacles. In the event of a ground fault, a GFI/GFCI will trip and quickly stop the flow of electricity to that outlet (GFI) or additional outlets on that circuit (GFCI) to prevent serious injury. IF the GFI/GFCI has tripped the outlet will not work and the Green LED light will NOT be lit. If this is the case,
- firmly press the “TEST” button on the face of the outlet.
- Then firmly press the “RESET” button. The green light should illuminate and the outlet should work.
- If steps 1 and 2 have not reset the outlet, it is possible that the circuit breaker has tripped. Check the circuit breaker in your electrical panel. See Resetting Breaker . Once the circuit breaker is turned back on Repeat steps 1 and 2.
